Abstract
This study analyzed the experience factors that influence the career education implementation of elementary science-gifted education teachers. To achieve this, semi-structured interviews were conducted individually with seven elementary school teachers who had experience in implementing career education for science-gifted students. The transcripts of interviews, teaching-learning materials, and reference resources for career education for science-gifted students were comprehensively analyzed to categorize the experience factors. The results identified five experiential factors influencing teachers’ implementation of career education for elementary science-gifted students: ‘beliefs and personal experiences related to career education (understanding of the purpose of gifted education and a sense of mission as a teacher, experiences in understanding the characteristics of gifted students, and personal experiences in career education)’, ‘feedback from gifted students and guardians’, ‘cooperation and support from peer teachers’, ‘research activities related to career education’, and ‘systems related to career education for gifted students (guidelines for operating gifted education institutions, administrative and financial supports, and systems and policies related to safety accidents)’. Based on the results, practical implications were proposed to enhance and internalize career education for elementary science-gifted students.
