본 연구는 교육지원청 부설 초등과학 영재교육원에서 전반적인 업무처리를 담당하고 있는 교사들의 직무수행경험을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 영재교육원에서 업무를 담당하고 있는 초등학교 교사 5인을 선발하여 연구 참여자로 설정하였고 연구자와의 자연스러운 면담을 통해 운영 준비, 운영, 운영 마무리 단계로 시기를구분하여 주요 업무 경험과 그 과정에서 겪는 고충을 논의하였다. 운영 준비 단계에서는 ‘역량있는 강사의 선발’, ‘초등과학 프로그램 개발 및 조정’, ‘개강식 준비’ 영역으로 구분하였다. 운영 단계에서는 ‘과학영재 캠프 준비’, ‘영재교육원 전반의 관리’ ‘학생 과제연구 발표 지도’ 영역으로 구분하였으며, 운영 마무리 단계에서는 ‘학생 과제연구 발표회 준비’, ‘차기년도 학생 선발’로 영역을 나눌 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 교육지원청 부설 초등과학영재교육원의 전반적인 업무와 교사들의 경험에 대하여 살펴볼 수 있었으며 추후 초등과학 영재교육원의 내실있는 운영과 발전에 여러 시사점을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
This study examines the job performance experiences of teachers overseeing comprehensive tasks at the Elementary Science Gifted Education Center, an institute managed by the District Education Office. For this purpose, five elementary school teachers responsible for managing the center’s responsibilities were selected as study participants. Through informal interviews, the teacher’s primary job duties were categorized into three stages: preparation, operation, and conclusion. During the preparation stage, the teachers’ responsibilities were explored within three areas: “selecting qualified instructors,” “developing and adjusting elementary science programs,” and “preparing for the opening ceremony.” During the operation stage, the responsibilities were categorized into “preparing for the science gifted camp,” “overseeing the overall management of the gifted education center,” and “guiding student research presentations.“ Finally, in the conclusion stage, responsibilities were divided into “preparing for student research presentations” and “selecting students for the next academic year.” This study examined the comprehensive operations of the Elementary Science Gifted Education Center affiliated with the District Education Office and highlighted the experiences of teachers managing these tasks. The findings are anticipated to offer valuable insights for strengthening and advancing the effective operation of the center in the future.
