Abstract

This article was written to study the various symbols of the pomegranate in ancient Chinese poetry. The various symbols of the Pomegranate in ancient Chinese poetry are summarized as that:The first, the pomegranate mostly have the image of the feeling of the purest beauty or passionate love. The pomegranate give a splash of colour throughout the summer and the gorgeous appearance of pomegranate looked a lot brighter than any other flower in that time. It means that pomegranate represent full of expression of beauty and dignity, and the poetry of pomegranate are generally expressed the symbol of passion and love. The second, the poetry of pomegranate are often express as the symbol of noble mind and honor. Pomegranate’s inflorescence is usually in May or Jun and that bloom have unique time in comparison with any other flowers, and because of which fact the pomegranate express unique noble mind and honor. The pomegranate well beloved by all the people and many poets represented the nobility in their expression. Like in Western, the pomegranate have a fantastic story of myth in ancient China.
