Abstract

》The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare the perceived values of Sport-For-All leader candidates regarding physical activity participation by persons with and without disabilities. Total of 190 candidates who passed a skill test and enrolled in a training institute were included in the research sample. The mean age was 26.70 (SD=5.72) and more men (81.5%) were distributed than women (18.5%). A survey instrument called Physical Activity Values and Concerns Survey, develop developed by Lee and Dummer (2004) and translated into Korean by Lee (2005), was modified for this study. To evaluate the psychometric properties of the instrument, a pilot study conducting a factor analysis, test-retest reliability, and internal consistency was preceded. As a result, the survey instrument was proved to be valid and reliable. All participants completed the survey using the self-administered method and returned it back to the survey administrators. For data analyses, descriptive statistics and paired t-test were used. Results showed that there were not much differences between the participants' values on physical activity participation by persons with and without disabilities. Also, it was found that the mean values of improving the psychosocial quality were relatively greater than better health and physical fitness, improving sport skills, and winning. The results of the paired t-test revealed that there were statistically significant differences in better health and physical fitness, improving psychological quality, and winning. It was concluded that Sport-For-All leader candidates may have a prejudice in their values on physical activity participation by persons with disabilities.
