지적장애인의 사회적 기술 향상을 위한 신체활동과 비신체활동 중재 간의 효과크기 차이(국내 연구를 중심으로)

이 연구는 지적장애인의 사회적 기술 향상을 위한 특수체육과 비신체활동 중재 간의 과크기(ES) 차이를 확인하기 위하여 메타분석을 실시하였다. 메타분석을 위하여 총 72편의 논문이 수집되었으나 평균치 또는 표준편차가 제시되지 않은 51편의 연구가 배제되어 총 21편의 연구가 선정되었다. 효과크기의 이질성은 Cochran의 Q와 Higgins의 I²를 사용하여 검정하였으며, 그 결과 신체활동과 비신체활동, 검사도구, 중재기간, 통제집단에 대한 중재 여부, 그리고 연령대로 구분한 부분집단 분석에서 이질성이 발견되었다. 따라서 지적장애인의 사회적 기술 향상을 위한 신체활동과 비신체활동 중재 간의 ES 차이 검정은 랜덤효과모형(Random Effect Model)을 이용한 Hedges’g를 사용하였으며, 유의확률은 .05로 설정하였다. ES에 대한 신뢰구간은 95%로 설정하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 지적장애인의 사회적 기술 향상을 위한 신체활동과 비신체활동 중재 연구에서는 검사도구, 중재기간, 통제집단의 중재 유무, 그리고 연령대에 따라서 ES의 이질성이 나타났다. 둘째, 지적장애인의 사회적 기술 향상을 위한 신체활동과 비신체활동 중재 간의 ES는 유의한 차이가 없다. 그리고 지적장애인의 사회적 기술 향상을 위한 연구에서는 통계적 유의성 뿐만 아니라 ES가 함께 제시되어야 하며, 중재효과의 과대평가가 나타나지 않도록 하기 위해서 실험집단 뿐만 아니라 통제집단에도 중재를 실시할 것을 제언하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to conduct a meta-analysis for identifying the differences between the effects of APA and non-APA interventions for improving the social skills of people with an intellectual disability. Out of 72 papers collected for meta-analysis, 21 studies were selected after excluding 51 studies that did not present mean or standard deviation values. The heterogeneity of effect size(ES)s was verified using Cochran’s Q and Higgins’ I². Heterogeneity was found in the subgroup analyses for APA and non-APA interventions, testing tools, intervention periods, interventions in the control group, and age. Therefore, we used Hedges’ g using a random effect model to test the difference between the ESs of APA and non-APA for improving the social skills of people with an intellectual disability, with the significance probability set to .05. The confidence interval for the ES was set to 95%. In conclusion, first, the study on the APA and non-APA interventions for improving the social skills of people with an intellectual disability revealed that heterogeneity of ESs appeared according to the test tool, intervention period, interventions in the control group, and age group. Second, we found no significant difference in the ESs of APA and non-APA interventions. This study suggested that ES must be presented in research to improve the social skills of people with an intellectual disability, along with statistical significance. Practitioners should provide interventions not only to the experimental group but also to the control group to prevent any overestimation of the ES of the intervention.
