Abstract

So far, we have analyzed Zhang Dai(張岱)'s poems that appear in the Quatrain thematically and examined their characteristics. Landscape descriptions were the most numerous in terms of volume, and there were many other poems that described the different conditions of life between the past and present and the resulting emotions. Although the number of exchange poems was not large, the series of poems that discussed how he differed from Xu Wei(徐渭)'s poetic style confirmed Zhang Dai's poetic direction. Accordingly, in this paper, the world of Quatrain was divided into descriptions of landscapes, feelings about time, and exchange poetry. Compared to ancient style poems, life is less revealed, and interest in historical events and people, especially those focused on the metrical poetry system, is not prominent, which seems to be a characteristic of the short system called Quatrain. In addition, it can be seen that Zhang Dai chose a system by paying attention to the formal characteristics of each system when writing poetry. In order to study Zhang Dai's poetry one level more deeply, a comparative study with literary figures who became aesthetic ideals, such as TaoYuanMing(陶淵明) and SuDongBo(蘇東坡), is necessary. In addition, if we look at the writers who were active together at the time in Jiangnam in the late Ming and early Qing times, especially in the ShaoXing(紹興) area, which had a long-standing culture, we will be able to speak more objectively about the characteristics, status, and significance of the poetic world. Research on this aspect is left as future work.
