Abstract
This article studies Chinese-Korean narrative text's translation from the angle of ‘hybrid’. It contains three parts. The first section analyzes the functions of hybridity in original texts. There are three kinds of hybrids: foreign languages, Chinese dialects, and ancient Chinese stylistics. The second section discusses strategies when addressing these hybrids and translating them into Korean from the angle of aesthetics and the reader‘s reception. The third section comments on the hybridity of translated Korean. In ancient times a lot of Chinese cultural factors were absorbed into Korean culture, and up to now there has been a lot of Chinese words used in Korean. However, sometimes those words are used with different meanings. This makes the hybridity in translated Korean more complicated. This section mainly comments on domestication and foreignization under hybridization. This article draws some conclusions based on those collections of instances. These conclusions will be helpful in the choice of translation strategy and can also be used as a criterion in translation criticism.
