丁玲의 晩年 ― 그녀는 왜 극좌보수주의자가 됐을까?

Abstract

Ding-ling(丁玲) spent her whole life in political arguments. After enduring severe times for more than 20 years, not to mention of deprivation of all political rights and status as a writer from 1957, she was finally reinstated in 1979. People expected returned old-aged intelligent D would stand in the front line of Thought Liberation movement. But after reinstatement, she was found way out of people's expectation, showing left extremists standpoints in many cases. This article studied the background of Ding-ling's left extremists tendency when she came back to Beijing with the reinstatement announcement. The fact is that she didn't thoroughly regain her rights and status. Especially Zhou-yang(周揚), her strong antagonist who had put her in trouble situation in the Cultural Revolution era, still stand in the way of her. Zhou-yang loudly blamed Ding-ling for the so-called ‘History Issue’ in 1980s. But Ding-ling couldn't resist directly nor effectively, because she was in weaker position than Zhou-yang until that time. Ding-ling, as an ‘in-system’ persona, could not choose but depend on the communist party. For Ding-ling, it was essential to prove her loyalty and faithfulness to the party. In this context she repeatedly blamed Shen-Chongwen(沈從文). What she attacked was Shen-Chongwen, but her target in mind was Zhou-yang. But, unfortunately Ding-ling lost her reputation in the people during this efforts and got confused in her latter years. As a politician she didn't succeed in politics and as a writer she inflamed others as well as herself in the flames of politics.
