Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the user experience of different technological modes in Metaverse museums through investigation of current museum-related Metaverse applications. With the rapid development of technology, the museum field is gradually integrating Metaverse technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality to create richer visiting experiences. This study selected the Palace Museum, Shanghai Museum, National Museum of China, and Capital Museum as research subjects. Through questionnaire surveys and data analysis, the study delved into the performance of these museums in aspects including user communication, web design, technological modes, and external factors. The results show that museums under different technological modes exhibit their own strengths in various elements. Under the virtual reality technology, the Palace Museum creates immersion, making visitors feel as if they are truly present. It excels in realism, usability, and aesthetics. Under augmented reality technology, the Shanghai Museum stands out in information provision, offering visitors abundant explanations and interactive experiences. It leads in realism, usability, and information provision. Under the mirror world technology, the National Museum of China stands out, particularly in accessibility and interactivity, by creating a novel experiential approach. Under life recording technology, the Capital Museum is welcomed by user for its convenient usability and adaptability, excelling in value, information provision, and interaction. In conclusion, the development of Metaverse museums will diversify further to meet evolving visitor needs and societal expectations. In the future, museums will continue to innovate within various technological modes such as virtual reality, augmented reality, mirror worlds, and life recording, to create richer and more personalized visiting experiences for visitors.
