IPA 국제음성기호 표기를 위한 한글 형태 연구 -한글 신자소 디자인을 중심으로-

음성언어는 시대적 변화와 표현의 방식에 따라 다양하게 파생되는데 음성언어의 역할은 사람 간의 의사소통에 있으며, 문자언어는 음성언어로 표현된 문화, 역사를 기록하는데 큰 의미를 갖고 있다. 그러나 과거와 달리 국제 사회의 소통이 원활해진 오늘날 국가별 음성 언어 및 문자 언어의 차이는 소통에불편함과 내용 전달의 정확도를 떨어트리기도 하며, 음성언어는 있지만 문자언어가 없는 국가들은 문화와 역사를 기록하지 못하는 경우도 있어 연구의 필요성이 있다고 판단하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는외국어 및 외래어의 정확한 한글 표기를 통해 한글의 사용성을 높이는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 방법은 ‘왕실 외교문서 617’, ‘훈민정음해례’, ‘태서신사람요’ 등의 기록물에서 다른 나라 음성언어를 비교적 정확하게 한글로 표기한 사례를 바탕으로 외국어와 외국어 표기법을 조사하여 IPA에 대응하는 한글 자소의 시각적 형태를 연구하였다. 연구 결과로 새로운 자음과 모음 형태가 추가된 119자(자음 91 자+모음 28자)와 이를 활용할 수 있는 입력 자판 배열과 표기법을 제안하였는데 이 제안에 사용된한글 표기법은 ‘풀어쓰기’ 방식을 사용했다. 그 이유는 1) 자소 하나하나를 발음 순서에 따라 나열하기 때문에 발음의 순서가 알기 쉽다. 2) IPA에 들어있는 다중 모음의 표기가 쉽다. 3) 외국어·외래어발음 중 자음을 늘려 발음해야 하는 장음의 경우 늘려서 내는 소리도 표기할 수 있다. 4) 한글은 가장단순한 조형적 특성을 갖고 있기 때문이다. 본 연구를 통해 한글의 표기 체계와 발음 순서에 대한 학습자의 이해도를 높이고, 단시간에 한글을 익혀 새로운 한글 기호로 자국어를 쓸 수 있기를 바라며 후속 연구에서는 신자소 입력기와 입력기용 서체 개발을 통해 한글의 사용성 향상을 기대한다.
Abstract
The role of spoken language is to communicate between people, and written language has great significance for recording culture and history expressed in spoken language. However, in the international community has made communication smoother, unlike in the past, the difference between spoken and written languages in each country may cause inconvenience in communication and decrease the accuracy of content delivery, and countries with spoken languages but no written languages may not be able to record their culture and history, so we decided that there is a need for research. Therefore, this study aims to improve the usability of Hangeul through accurate Hangeul representation of foreign and foreign languages. As a research method, we investigated foreign languages and foreign language notations based on the relatively accurate transcription of other countries’ spoken languages into Hangul in the ‘Diplomatic Document #617’ Archived by Jangseogak’s, ‘Hunminjeongeum-Haelye’, and ‘Taeseosinsa’, and studied the visual forms of Hangul consonants corresponding to IPA. As a result of the research, we proposed 119 Hangul characters (91 consonants + 28 vowels) with new consonants and vowel forms, and an input keyboard arrangement and notation that can utilize them, and the Hangul notation used in this proposal uses the ‘phonemic writing system’. This is because 1) it lists each consonant in the order in which it is pronounced, making it easier to understand the order of pronunciation. 2) It is easy to represent multiple vowels in the IPA. 3) In the case of long sounds that need to be pronounced by stretching consonants during foreign and foreign language pronunciation, the sound produced by stretching can also be displayed. 4) Hangul has the simplest morphological characteristics. Through this study, I hope to improve learners’ understanding of Hangeul’s writing system and pronunciation order, and to enable them to learn Hangeul in a short period of time and write their own language with new Hangeul symbols. In follow-up studies, we expect to improve the usability of Hangeul by developing new characters and typefaces for input devices.
