Abstract
A significant amount of research has been conducted on the intentions behind children’s playgrounds, but most of these studies focus on fragmented individual elements and subjects. There is a lack of research that yields results aligned with the intentions and purposes required by parents and children, making it difficult to capture their needs from the user perspective regarding children’s playgrounds. The purpose of this study is to explore the factors influencing the use intentions of green spaces in children’s playgrounds by parents and children. The research methods and contents are as follows: First, based on the results of previous studies, a literature review will be conducted, and a research model will be constructed to explore the relationships between various factors and intentions. Second, factors influencing intentions will be extracted and organized through the examination of child development theories, educational expectation theories, and related literature, and hypotheses will be established in connection with the research model. A survey will then be conducted. Third, regression analysis will be used to test the hypotheses through data analysis. The research results indicate that factors such as ‘design of risk elements in green spaces,’ ‘interest in problem-solving skills,’ ‘adventure play,’ ‘interest in healthy physical and mental growth,’ and ‘rich social experiences’ positively influence parents’ challenge intentions. Additionally, ‘abundant and free exploration’ and ‘spiritual interaction with nature’ positively influence parents’ sense of achievement intentions. ‘Conflict resolution’ and ‘stress coping ability’ positively influence parents’ competitive intentions. Factors like ‘curiosity’ and ‘free and open space environment’ positively influence children’s challenge intentions. Furthermore, ‘cooperation with friends,’ ‘self-set play goals,’ and ‘discovering new things’ positively influence children’s sense of achievement intentions. Lastly, ‘mutual comparison with friends’ and ‘freely distributable resources and sense of territory’ positively influence children’s competitive intentions.
