Abstract
Currently, there is a relatively limited body of research on the intention differences among different groups in children's playgrounds. It is necessary to examine the differences in 'intentions' between playground designers, parents, and children, along with their associated phenomena. The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in the intentions of designers, parents and children towards playgrounds and to propose directions for children's playgrounds based on the differences. The research method and content were conducted in three parts. Firstly, it categorizes the playground into 5 functional spaces and defines each space, proposing concepts and constructing a research model based on literature review and field surveys. Based on the research purpose, the intentions of designers, parents, and children were extracted and organized. Thirdly, based on prior studies, a survey is conducted, and the survey data is analyzed in terms of differences in intentions between designers, parents, children, as well as trends and phenomena related to intention differences. The analysis results show that differences among designers, parents, and children in nine out of sixteen intention items related to children's playgrounds, including creativity, challenge, intelligence, learning, achievement, adventure, curiosity, independence, and competition. Further analysis of the nine intentions identified three meaningful phenomena. Firstly, designers' design intentions are higher than parents, parents' intentions are higher than children's intentions. Secondly, parents have the highest intention values, and while designers' intentions are lower than parents, they show a trend higher than children. The group's intention values exhibit a turning trend. Third, parents have the highest intention values, children have lower intentions than parents but higher than designers, and overall, there is an increasing trend.
