Abstract
As the life expectancy of adults increases, the disconnection between education and social participation is emerging as an important issue, and this social isolation is manifested as a phenomenon of lower happiness in life. Adults can induce self-development and social participation through continuous education, which is an important factor in leading a happy life. Therefore, this study aimed to provide basic data by analyzing the relationship between participation motivation, educational satisfaction, and happiness of lifelong education programs. The survey was conducted in the form of a questionnaire with 319 adult men and women in Gangwon-do from December 1, 2020 to March 10, 2021, and analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 statistical program. The results of this study are as follows. First, the motivation to participate in lifelong education had a significant impact on the education satisfaction factor in the order of goal motivation, learning motivation, and activity motivation factors. Second, the motivation to participate in lifelong education, in the order of learning motivation and activity motivation, had a significant impact on the extrinsic happiness factor. The activity motivation and learning motivation factors of lifelong education motivation have a significant impact on the internal happiness factor, and the activity motivation, learning motivation, and goal motivation factors of lifelong education motivation have a small effect on the self-regulation factor. The comprehensive results of the study showed that it is very important to provide education focusing on obtaining certification and acquiring skills for adult learners receiving lifelong education program education. In addition, it was found that self-actualization, participation in social activities, forming human relationships, and relieving stress were important factors. These factors serve as important factors in increasing adult learners’ motivation to participate, and can be expected to have a positive effect of increasing educational satisfaction and happiness.
