초록
Linezolid, a synthetic antibiotic in the oxazolidinone class, has been approved for human clinical use since 2000. However, recent emergence of oxazolidinone-resistant Staphylococcus spp. carrying optrA gene, encoding an ATP-binding cassette-F protein, in pig farms has raised significant public health concerns in Korea. Although the presence of optrA gene has been associated with linezolid-resistant phenotype in Staphylococcus spp. and Enterococcus spp., an optrA-positive linezolid-susceptible Staphylococcus simulans strain PFJB-50N was isolated from a pig farm in Korea. Sequence analysis of the optrA gene in PFJB50N revealed five nucleotide point mutations associated with five amino acid substitutions.
