Abstract
This study examines the potential for reconstructing the memory flow and identity of everyday objects through the case of the interactive media artwork <ephemera>. The development of digital technology has brought about significant changes in the form and content of modern art, presenting new possibilities in the artistic approach to memory and identity. Today, individual memory is understood as a fluid concept that is constantly reinterpreted in response to changes in social context and emotion, extending beyond mere reminiscence of the past. In this context, memory imperfections and complex feelings associated with memory can be expressed as art through visual images. This study examined how individual memories and identities are visually reconstructed in artistic practice, drawing on the artist's childhood memories. To this end, an interactive work was produced based on the researcher's childhood memory, and the technical devices applied to the work and the method of using visual media were analyzed. The technical approach to classifying age groups based on the audience's body data conveys the difference between the artist's childhood and present memories through the provision of different images. Through the presentation of changing images, the work visualizes the evolution of memory and the complexity of emotions over time, allowing the audience to reflect on their memories through interactions with the work. This study conducted interviews with 10 audiences during the 7-day exhibition period. As a result of the interview analysis, the audience experienced a reconstruction of emotions and memories through the work. Through this, the study confirms that technological media can serve as a tool to expand the scope of art expression, presenting art that integrates sensory experience and audience participation as a new way to construct memory and identity.
