Abstract

In the 21st century, generative artificial intelligence(AI) art has opened unprecedented creative possibilities through the advancement of Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs), yet it has also provoked plagiarism controversies due to the high similarity between generated works and existing artworks. Such issues arise because AI generates images by learning from massive datasets, often leading to overfitting and repetitive outputs. This study empirically verifies control strategies to mitigate these risks and discusses their aesthetic implications. First, the CelebA and WikiArt datasets were used to evaluate the similarity between generated outputs and training data. The baseline GAN model yielded an average Structural Similarity Index Measure(SSIM) of 0.71 and a Learned Perceptual Image Patch Similarity(LPIPS) of 0.32, indicating high resemblance to the originals. With the application of control strategies, however, SSIM decreased to 0.58 and LPIPS increased to 0.46, thereby reducing the likelihood of overfitting (p<0.05). Second, plagiarism-prevention effects were tested by applying latent space manipulation, discriminator similarity filtering, and creativity-inducing loss design. As a result, feature diversity (Intra-FID) improved by approximately 18%, average inter-sample similarity decreased by 12%, and creativity evaluation scores rose from 3.2 to 4.1. These findings demonstrate that control strategies enhance not only dissimilarity but also creative originality and visual quality. Third, the effect of human intervention was examined, revealing that collaborative processes such as prompt design and final output selection increased the average external evaluator score from 3.8 to 4.5, confirming that human–machine collaboration plays a crucial role in improving creative completeness. In conclusion, control strategies function not merely as plagiarism-avoidance mechanisms but as aesthetic devices that enable new modes of visual expression and creative intervention. This study demonstrates that in generative AI art, the combination of technical control and human aesthetic judgment can simultaneously secure originality, diversity, and ethical legitimacy.
