이 연구는 디지털 전환기, 생성형 인공지능을 활용한 예술 창작의 지속가능성을 예술가의 측면에서 고찰하는 것을 목표로 한다. 2022년부터 본격화한 생성형 AI의 영향은 예술 분야에서도 기술 혁신의 성과를 수용하여 표현의 새로운 가능성을 탐색하도록 촉진해 왔다. 이 논문에서는 기술의 변화에 따라 작가의 역할에 어떤 변화가 있는지를 탐구하기 위해 AI 모델의 특징에 따라 작가의 역할이 어떻게 달라지는지, 전통적 작가와 어떤 차이가 있는지를 고찰한다. 이를 기반으로 생성형 AI 기술이 예술가와 예술 창작의 지속가능성에 어떤 영향을 주는지를 사유할 것이다. 이 논의의 과정에서 “피드백 루프”라는 개념을 통해 AI 출력이 어떻게 인간 예술가의 판단을 촉진하고 인간의 결정이 알고리즘에 영향을 주는지 논할 것이다. 마지막으로, 인간의 창의성과 기술 사이의 통합 가능성을 살펴봄으로써, 예술 활동에서 생성형 AI의 잠재력과 의미를 고찰한다.
Abstract
This study aims to examine, from an artist’s perspective, the sustainability of artistic creation using generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the era of digital transformation. Since 2022, the growing impact of generative AI has prompted the art field to adopt technological innovations and explore new possibilities for artistic expression. In this paper, I investigate how the role of the artist changes in response to technological shifts by examining how different characteristics of AI models affect that role and how it differs from that of a traditional artist. Building on these considerations, I will explore how generative AI technology influences the sustainability of both artists and their creative practices. In the course of this discussion, I draw on the concept of a “feedback loop” to analyze how AI-generated outputs can stimulate an artist’s judgment and how human decisions in turn affect the algorithm. Finally, by examining the potential integration of human creativity and technology, I will discuss the significance and potential of generative AI in artistic practice.
