발해 <함화 11년 중대성첩>의 재검토

발해 12대 왕 대이진 함화 11년(841) 윤9월에 발해 중대성이 일본 太政官에 보낸 첩은 1급 사료이다. 그러나 원본이 아니라 사본으로 전해져서 오탈자 등이 적지 않다. 본 연구는 <중대성첩> 사본의 원문을 교감하고 기존 번역문의 오류를 검토하였으며, 이를 토대로 새로운 판독문과 번역문을 제시하였다. <중대성첩> 사본은 『續日本後紀』 등의 사서의 표기를 기준으로 그 오류를 수정해야 하며, 그 결과 발해 중대성은 일본 태정관에 평행문서로서 첩을 발송하였음을 알 수 있다. <중대성첩>의 번역에서는 다음의 두 가지를 제기하였다. 하나는 문서의 제목에 해당하는 사본의 2행의‘應’을 ‘마땅히’라는 당위의 조동사가 아니라 국왕의 명령을 ‘받다’라는 본동사로 해석하였다. 다른 하나는 12～ 16행의 處分을 발해 국왕이 중대성에 내리는 명령으로 파악하여 평서문으로 번역하였다
Abstract
In September of the 11th year of Hamhwa of Balhae, the Diplomatic Document(牒) sent by Jungdaesung to Daijō-kan(太政官) in Japan is a first-class historical document. However, there are a few typos because it was delivered as a copy, not the original. This study corrected the errors in the copy of the Diplomatic Document, reviewed errors in the existing translations, and presented new readings and translations. The copy of the Diplomatic Document should correct the error based on Shoku Nihon Kōki(續日本後紀), and as a result, it can be seen that the Diplomatic Document(牒) of Jungdaesung was sent to the Japanese Taejeonggwan as a parallel document. I newly translated the following two things for the Diplomatic Document. One interpreted the ‘應’ in line 2 of the copy corresponding to the title as the main verb of ‘receiving’ the king’s order, not as an auxiliary verb. The other is ‘處分’ in lines 12 to 17. It was identified as an order issued by the king to Jungdaesung and translated into plaintext.
