자유의 기독교사회윤리적 함의에 관한 연구 - 디트리히 본회퍼의 견해를 중심으로

자유는 인간이 추구하는 보편적 가치이다. 자유는 인간다운 삶을 가능하게 하는 기본가치이다. 자유를 향한 열정은 최근의 역사, 촛불 시민혁명 속에서도 쉽게 찾을 수 있다. 자유주의에 대한 최근의 연구에 의하면 자유는 개인의 삶을 넘어서 사회적 차원의 삶까지지향한다. 자유의 개념은 개인의 기본권만이 아니라 공공선의 차원과 연관된다. 자유의 개념은 본회퍼의 윤리 사상에서 중요한 역할을 한다. 본회퍼는 개인의 권리에 기초한 자유를 중요하게 여긴다. 그뿐만 아니라 본회퍼는 공공선의 형태로 실현되어야 하는 자유의공동체적 의미를 강조한다. 하나님은 당신의 자유를 인간을 위해 사용하신다. 인간을 위하시는 하나님의 자유는 타자를 위한 인간의 자유를 가능하게 한다. 그의 사회윤리는 하나님과 인간과 맺는 결속 안에서 발견되는 자유와 이웃을 위한 책임 있는 행동을 강조한다. 그의 사회윤리의 특징은 자유 안에서 책임지고 행동하는 인간에 대한 하나님의 섭리 안에서 잘 드러난다. 신체의 자유에 대한 침해는 공동체의 기본 질서와 토대를 파괴하는 비인간적인 행위이다. 신체적 자유의 침해는 자연적 생명의 권리 회복과 책임적 행위를 통해회복될 수 있다. 자연적 생명의 보전은 한 개인의 삶의 영역을 넘어서 사회적 차원의 영역까지 나아가야 한다. 본회퍼는 하나님의 각 위임들 – 가정, 노동, 정부, 교회 – 을 자연적 생명, 특히 신체적 생명의 권리를 보장해야 하는 사회적 현실의 영역으로 간주한다. 하나의 위임이 생명의 가치를 지향하는 하나님의 뜻을 거부할 때, 그 위임은 다른 위임들의 비판을 피할 수 없다. 이처럼 본회퍼는 자유를 개인주의적인 관점이 아니라, 개인의기본권과 공동선을 추구하는 공동체의 관점에서 이해한다. 자유의 사회윤리적 의미는 개인과 공동체의 권리를 보장하는 사회적 제도 안에서 더욱 분명해진다.
Abstract
Freedom is a universal value for mankind. Freedom is a basic value that enables a humane life. The passion for freedom can be easily found in recent events, so to speak, in the candlelight protests of citizens. According to recent research on liberalism, freedom aims for lives in the social point of view, surpassing the notion of a life in an individual viewpoint. The idea of freedom relates not only an individual’s basic rights, but also Common Good. The notion of freedom has an important role in Bonhoeffer’s ethical ideas. Bonhoeffer regards freedom based on an individual’s right important. He also emphasizes on the communal meaning of freedom that should be realized in a public form. God uses His freedom for mankind. God’s freedom for human enables human freedom for others. His social ethics emphasizes freedom that is found in the bonding between God and His people, as well as responsible behavior for one’s neighbors. The characteristics of his social ethics can be found in God’s providence for people that acts responsibly in the freedom. The violation of physical freedom is an inhumane act that destroys the basic order and foundation of a community. The violation of physical freedom can be recovered by the restoration of the rights of natural life as well as responsible behavior. The preservation of natural life should surpass the realm of one’s individual life and go towards the social domain. Bonhoeffer regards each position that God mandates - family, labor, government, church - as something that is in the social realm that should respect the rights of natural life and even more, the physical life. If one mandate rejects God’s will on life’s value, it is inevitable that such a mandate will go under criticism from other mandates. In this regard, Bonhoeffer understands freedom not from an individualism’s point of view, but from the viewpoint of community that pursues an individual’s basic rights and the public good. The social ethical meaning of freedom can be clearer within the social system that ensures the individuals’ and community’s rights.
