본 논문은 산상수훈에 나타난 천국 개념을 바탕으로 서서평 선교사의 삶과 사역을 분석하고, 그녀가 한국교회와 선교사에게 제시하는 선교적 함의를 논한다. 서서평 선교사는 천국을 살아내며 전하는 데 핵심을 두었으며, 자발적인 헌신의 영성으로 조선인의 생명을 살리는 선교를 감당했다. 그녀는 하나님께서 보내신 천국 대사로서, 일상 가운데 이미 임한 천국, 현재에도 임하고 있는 천국, 미래에 완성될 천국을 전하기 위해 간호, 교육, 전도, 사회선교에 헌신하였다. 본 연구는 산상수훈에 나타난 선교적 영성을 토대로 천국 개념을 심층적으로 검토하고, 서서평 선교사의 삶과 사역을 하나님 나라의 신학적 바탕으로 분석하여 그녀의 삶과 사역을 하나님 나라의 관점에서 조명한다.
Abstract
This paper analyzes the life and ministry of missionary Elisabeth Johanna Shepping based on the concept of the Kingdom of Heaven as depicted in the Sermon on the Mount, and discusses the missiological implications she presents to the Korean Church and missionaries today. Elisabeth Johanna Shepping centered her life and ministry on living out and proclaiming the Kingdom of Heaven, and she carried out her mission to save the lives of the Korean people with a spirit of voluntary devotion. As an ambassador of the Kingdom of Heaven sent by God, she dedicated herself to nursing, education, evangelism, and social mission in order to convey the Kingdom of Heaven that has already come, is presently coming, and will be fully realized in the future within everyday life. This study deeply examines the concept of the Kingdom of Heaven based on the missiological spirituality revealed in the Sermon on the Mount, and analyzes the life and ministry of Elisabeth Johanna Shepping within the theological framework of the Kingdom of God, thereby illuminating her life and ministry from the perspective of the Kingdom of God.
