Abstract

This paper examines the current status of Tajik diaspora migrant workers in Russia and explores missionary approaches to reach them. Due to economic difficulties in Central Asia, many Tajik people have migrated to Russia as laborers, and a large proportion of them come from a Muslim background. As a result, the Muslim population in Russia is rapidly increasing, presenting a significant challenge that requires Russian and Korean churches to rethink their missionary strategies. This study analyzes the causes behind the growing number of Tajik diaspora workers in Russia and the social and economic challenges they face. It also proposes missionary approaches targeted at these migrant workers and discusses the necessity and limitations of diaspora missions, while suggesting strategies to respond to the spread of Islam from Central Asia to Russia. In conclusion, evangelizing Tajik migrant workers in Russia is an urgent task. Cooperation and networking between Russian and Central Asian missionaries are essential to this effort. Additionally, considering the unstable living conditions of these workers, a Gospel-centered approach is necessary, alongside sustained care and ministry. Russian and Korean churches must establish long-term missionary strategies to counter the spread of Islam and recognize the importance of ministry to diaspora migrant workers.
