황정은 소설 속 세운상가의 의미 및 변화 고찰 -황정은의 『百의 그림자』와 「d」를 중심으로

문학 작품에서 공간은 그 공간에서 진행되는 인물의 삶에 따라 다른 공간이 된다. 공간은 그 안에서 행동하는 사람과 함께 변하고, 공간의 서사와 의미가 달라진다. 이에 본 논문에서는 『百의 그림자』(2010) 이후, 『dd의 우산』 속 연작 「d」(2019)의 공간으로 다시 등장한 ‘세운상가’의 의미가 어떻게 변화되었는지를 분석해 황정은의 윤리적 의식 변화를 살펴보았다. 『百의 그림자』에서는 철거 위기에 놓인 세운상가 속 사람들을 그림자라는 환상을 통해 ‘불행의 단독성’으로 보여주었다. 한편 『dd의 우산』 속 연작 「d」에도 세운상가는 등장하는데, 이때 세운상가는 광장에서 세월호참사 집회 중인 세월호 유족들과 함께 묘사되었다. 「d」에서의 세운상가는 환상이 제거된 현실을 직시하는 묘사로 구현되었다. 이는 황정은 작가가 세월호참사를 겪으면서 더는 현실을 간과하지 않겠다는 의식의 변화로 해석된다. 『百의 그림자』에서 세운상가를 은교와 무재의 연애 서사로, 타자의 호명을 통한 연대의 공간으로 고찰했다면, 「d」에서 세운상가는 아버지의 공간이면서 세월호참사 이후의 애도와 치유의 공간으로 분석하였다. 치유의 방법은 아버지(여소녀)의 윤리적 환대였다. 황정은은 ‘용산참사’와 ‘세월호참사’라는 사회적인 재난을 『百의 그림자』와 「d」 속 세운상가를 통해 ‘환상의 기법’과 ‘현실적 기법’이라는 두 가지 방법으로 보여주었다. 이로써 황정은 서사는 폐허의 공간에서도 타자의 환대를 통해 윤리적 관계 맺기 가능성을 시도하며, 작가로서의 의식 변화와 윤리적 책임을 보여주었다.
Abstract
In a literary work, space becomes a different space depending on the life of the character progressing in that space. The space changes with the person who acts in it, and the narrative and meaning of the space change. Therefore, this paper analyzes how the meaning of Sewoon Shopping Center, which has reappeared as a space for the series "d" (2019) in "The Shadow of hunderd" (2010) and examines the change in Hwang Jeong-eun's ethical consciousness. In "Shadow of hunderd", the people in Sewoon Shopping Center, who are on the verge of demolition, were shown as "unfortunate independence" through the illusion of shadow. Meanwhile, Sewoon Shopping Center appears in the series "d" in "dd's Umbrella", and at this time, Sewoon Shopping Center was depicted with the bereaved Yeo sonyeo of Ferry Sewol who were rallying for the Sewol ferry disaster in the square. Sewoon Shopping Center in "d" was implemented as a description of the reality where the fantasy has been removed. This seems to be a change in Hwang Jeong-eun's consciousness that he will no longer overlook reality as she suffers from the Sewol ferry disaster. While Sewoon Shopping Center was considered as a love narrative between Eungyo and Mujae in "Shadow of hunderd" and a space of solidarity through the name of the other, Sewoon Shopping Center in "d" was analyzed as a space for the father and a space for mourning and healing after the Sewol ferry disaster. The way to heal was the ethical hospitality of the father (Yeo sonyeo). Hwang Jeong-eun showed the social disasters of 'Yongsan disaster' and 'Sewol lake disaster' in two ways: 'fantastic technique' and 'realistic technique' through the Sewoon Shopping Center in 'Shadow of hunderd' and 'd'. As a result, Hwang Jeong-eun's narrative attempts the possibility of establishing an ethical relationship through the hospitality of others even in the space of ruins, and shows a change in consciousness and ethical responsibility as a writer.
