본 논문은 김춘수의 초기 시에서 나타나는 존재론적 사유의 흔적을 발견하고 이를 통해 1950년대 김춘수가 꽃 피운 존재론적 시로 나아가기 이전 그가 가지고 있던 사유의 특징과 의미를 밝히는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 김춘수의 존재론적 시를 특정 사상과의 영향 관계 속에서 해명하려는 관점에서 나아가 김춘수 초기 시에서 형성되고 있던 시 세계를 조망함과 동시에 그가 어떻게 존재론적 사고를 구축해나갔는지를 단계적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 이에 따라 본고에서는 ‘릴케’ 혹은 ‘하이데거’와의 직접적인 영향 관계를 전제로 두고 김춘수의 시를 해석하려는 시도는 지양할 것이다. 이는 ‘존재론적 사유’라는 것이 특정한 사유의 계보 속에서 밝혀질 때에 가장 유효한 관점을 마련해줄 것인가에 대한 의문이 남기 때문이다. 따라서 이러한 영향의 계보학적 탐색보다는 실제 김춘수에 시에서 나타나고 있는 본질적인 존재론적 양상을 고찰할 것이다. 김춘수는 언어와 존재 사이의 좁혀지지 않는 틈을 인식하는 데에서 오는 딜레마와 그럼에도 불구하고 그것을 극복해나가려는 시인으로서의 자각이 분명한 시인이었다. 이러한 자각은 한 순간에 발생한 것이 아니기에 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 의식적으로, 혹은 무의식적으로 남겨온 존재론적인 사유에 대한 흔적을 통해 확인할 수 있게 된다. 실제로 그의 첫 시집 『구름과 장미』(1948)를 시작으로 『부다페스트에서의 소녀의 죽음』(1959)에 이르기까지 10여 년의 시간 동안 그는 총 7권의 시집과 시선집을 내며 부단히 시를 썼고, 하나의 시집에서 다른 하나의 시집으로 넘어갈 때에 스스로가 물었던 질문들이 정리되고, 또 새로운 질문이 제기되며 사유의 폭이 넓어지고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 이에 본고는 그 사유가 변화하는 과정을 따라가며 김춘수의 초기 시에서 존재론적 사유의 흐름을 발견한다. 즉 ‘바로 봄’을 통해 ‘존재 물음’이 시작되고, 이것이 ‘존재 의미’의 문제와 깊에 연관되며, 결국은 ‘관계 맺음’을 통해 ‘현존재’로서의 ‘본래적 자기’를 찾게 되는 일련의 흐름을 갖추고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이는 곧 어떠한 특정 계보 속에서 김춘수의 시를 해석하기보다 김춘수의 시 자체에 내재적으로 생성되고 있는 사유가 있었음을 확인할 수 있는 하나의 근거가 될 것이다.
Abstract
This study aims to rediscover the meaning of Kim Chun-soo's early poems and to reveal the characteristics of his thoughts before Kim Chun-soo wrote ontological poetry in the 1950s as finding out the traces of ontological thoughts in Kim Chun-soo's early poems. For this purpose, this study will go further in an attempt to clarify Kim Chun-su's ontological poetry in relation to certain ideas, it will look at how Kim Chun-soo’s early poetry world was formed and at the same time, how he built his own ontological thought. In order to do so, this study will avoid to interpret Kim Chun-soo's poetry as a direct influence relationship with 'Rilke' or 'Heidegger'. This is because there is a question as to whether the 'ontological thought' is revealed in the genealogy of a particular thought, and whether it will provide the most effective viewpoint to look into the thought of a poet. Therefore, rather than the genealogical exploration of these influences, I will examine the essential ontological aspects of Kim Chun-soo’s poetry. Kim Chun-soo was aware of the dilemma in recognizing the narrow gap between language and existence, and was aware of the need to overcome it. This awareness can be confirmed not only by a moment but by a trace of ontological thinking that has been consciously or unconsciously left over for a long time. In effect, for over a decade, from his first book of poems Clouds and Roses(1948) and to the death of a girl in Budapest (1959), he wrote a total of seven poem books, When he moved from one poem book to another book, it is able to see that the questions he has asked are sorted, new questions are raised, and the breadth of thought is expanding. As following the changing process of the thought, I find the flow of ontological thought in Kim Chun-soo's early poems. It has a series of flows which is from ‘question of being’ through ‘look right’ to how it is deeply related to ‘meaning of being’ and it eventually finds 'original self' as 'Dasein' through 'making relationship'. Through this, rather than interpreting the poems of Kim Chun-soo in any particular genealogy, there was an intrinsic thought for Kim Chun-soo's poetry itself, and this can be a basis for explaining Kim Chun-su's characteristics of the poetic world.
