Abstract

According to Julia Kristeva, ‘abject’ such as corpses and excrement are things that disturb identity or system and order while revealing the limits of the conditions of life. Therefore, modern people hate the body, and based on that hate, the ‘politics of exclusion’, an aspect of modern politics, works. Modern literature and art have demonstrated a political nature that undermines the foundation of the politics of exclusion by making visible this secret that modern civilization is trying to hide. For example, according to Bakhtin, the images of the abject in Rablel's work showed the delightful resistance aesthetics of medieval Renaissance popular culture against the ruling class culture. In the poetry of Baudelaire, which opened the poetry's modernity, the abject like a corpse is not an object of hate that can cause pollution or a fear that can cause contagion. On the contrary, Baudelaire's poetry turned the fear of contagion into fascination. Korea's Yi Sang pushed the modernity of Baudelaire's poetry. He exposed his diseased, rotted blood or excrement to the poetry. In his <Morning of Hemoptysis>, Yi Sang accepts the tuberculosis that was announced to him as a cross he will bear and reverses it as an expression of his vitality. <LE URINE> captures the image of the world where the fairy tale of commoners unfolds in the landscape unfolded by excrement, and furthermore, from that image, it reads a notice of a new morning of spring coming after the fall of the modern world. Its downfall and morning correspond to the death and rebirth of the ‘Christ-Yi Sang’. The modern world gave Yi Sang the pulmonary tuberculosis-the cross- that would bring death to him, and the asceticism carried out by carrying this cross is his literature like hemoptysis. Literature as this abject secretly conveys the evangelized gospel of the Messiah, the end of the modern world and the arrival of a new morning. Yi Sang thought that it was the ethics and duty of his literary practice to deliver this gospel to the world of poor commoners who were treated as an abject and excluded.
