이 글은 1970년대 민중시에 드러난 몇 가지 형상을 살펴봄으로써 민중시의 주체 구성 전략을 그러내는 것을 목표로 한다. 민중시는 한국문학사에서 집단적 에토스로 특정한 주체를 호명했던 가장 강렬한 예다. 창간 초기 『창작과 비평』은 하우저 등를 경유하며 구축한 리얼리즘적 전망과 당시 역사학계가 제출한 내재적 발전론의 성과를 집합해내며 그것을 문학적으로 자기화하는 것을 당면과제로 받게 되는데, 민중시는 바로 그 결과물이었다. 민중은 태생적으로 주체 안에 일종의 박탈로서 설치된 형상이다. 그렇게 발명된 민중시에 드러난 주체 형상은 언제나 몇 가지 이항대립으로 지탱되고 있다. 첫 번째로 남성과 여성이라는 젠더 대립, 두 번째는 민중과 국민이라는 저항담론과 통치담론 사이의 대립, 세 번째는 시쓰기에 있어서 ‘지시하는 나’와 ‘지시되는 나’ 사이의 대립이 그것이다. 본고는 신경림, 이성부, 조태일 등의 민중시 분석을 통해, 이 세 가지 이항대립이 사실은 가상의 분할선임을 설명한다. 민중시는 이 각각의 대립이 결국은 교묘하게 얽혀있음을 드러내주며, 주체 구성의 장이자 언어의 재현성이 착종되는 장으로서의 텍스트가 된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to reveal the Minjung-poetry's subjectivization strategy by examning some dichotomy figures revealed in the Minjung-poetry in 1970s. The Minjung-poetry is the most intense example of the particular subject called a collective ethos in the history of Korean modern literature. The initial aim of the Changbi was to internalization the realistic prospects built with reference to A. Hauser and the achievement of contemporary history scholarship. The Minjung-poetry was the result. Minjung is the form of 'dispossession' inherent in the subject. The manifestation of the subject revealed in Minjung-poetry is always supported by several dichotomy figures. The first is the gender conflict between men and women, and the second is the conflict between the resistance discourse and the governing discourse which are divided into the Minjung and Kukmin. And the third is the confrontation between 'the subject of the representing' and 'the subject of the representation' in the writing. This article explains that through the analysis of Shin Kyung-rim, Lee Seong-boo, and Jo Tae-il's poems, these three dichotomy figures were in fact fictitious. The Minjung-poetry reveals that these pairs finally intertwined, and becomes the field of subjecivization.
