Abstract
This study aims to develop a Korean language program tailored to the needs of senior foreign learners, a growing demographic amid global aging. Based on a survey of 124 respondents aged 50 and above, the study examined learners' motivations, preferences for class content and delivery methods, and their cultural engagement needs. The results indicate a strong preference for speaking-centered lessons and experiential cultural activities, particularly in short, intensive, and face-to-face formats. Statistical correlations among variables such as learning motivation, class participation, class length, and cultural frequency highlight the complex interplay of cognitive, emotional, and social factors influencing senior learners. In response, this paper proposes a senior-specific instructional model that integrates language education with cultural participation, emphasizing learner autonomy, interaction, and continuity. This model is expected to support the learners' social inclusion and meaningful engagement through Korean language learning. This research contributes to Korean language and culture education by offering a practical framework for curriculum design that reflects the realities and aspirations of senior learners in Korean language education.
