황순원의 일제말 문학의식－ 동양과 향토에 대한 자의식－

이 글은 일제말기 동양론의 저항적 흐름을 살펴보기 위해 씌어진다. 당대의 동양론은 많은 경우 식민지 권력에 대한 순응주의적 흐름을 보여주었다. 그러나 김기림, 이육사 등은 그런 흐름 속에서도 저항적 면모를 보여준다. 황순원도 저항적 동양론의 흐름으로 파악할 수 있는 소설가이다. 그는 일찍이 민족적 관점을 그의 시편 속에 포함하고 있었다. 그의 소설 「그늘」은 그런 저항적 동양론과 전통론을 읽을 수 있는 좋은 사례이다. 결국 동양이나 향토는 그것과 관계 맺는 주체의 의도에 따라 그 핵심적 역할이 달라지는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 이는 전통론, 향토론, 동양론을 일제의 식민지지배전략으로만 파악하려는 포스트식민주의적 견해가 상당부분 수정되어야 한다는 것을 말한다.
Abstract
This paper was written to study the resistant flow of the oriental theory at the latest colonial period. The many cases of oriental contemporary theory showed the flow of compliance for the colonial powers. However, Kim Gee Rim, Lee Yook Sa show a resistantial flow in despite of the stream. Hwang Soon Won is the novelist that identify to resistant flow to the Oriental theory. And he had included in his Psalms early national perspective. “Shade” his novel is a good example of such resistance that can be read and traditional oriental Ron. Oriental theory or Native eventually the key role that can vary depending on the intent of the subject and relate it. It says that a large part of tradition etc. in the case of Japanese colonial domination to oriental theory want to understand post-colonial views should be modified.
