문자는 언어를 기록하는 부호이자 도구로 문자의 가장 큰 기능은 언어의 정확한 표현과 기록을 위해서 문자의 변별성이 보장되어야 한다는 것이다. 그러나 인류의 생활이 복잡해지면서 어떤 사물이나 개념을 표현해야 하는 의미가 늘어나게 되었고 그렇게 되자 문자와 의미 사이의 대응 관계가 1:1의 대응 관계로 유지할 수 없게 되었다. 이에 가차의나 인신의를 지니고 있는 글자의 다중 배역을 해결하고 문자 고유의 변별력을 높이기 위해 새로운 글자를 만드는 과정에서 적용된 원칙이 바로 전주인 것이다. 육서 중에 전주는 다른 다섯 가지와는 달리 아직까지 그 개념이 명확하게 규명되어 있지 않다. 이에 본고에서는 허신이 『설문해자·서』에서 말한 전주와 그동안 전주에 대한 제설, 일반문자학의 시각에서 전주를 살펴보면서 가장 일반적이고 합리적인 전주의 개념을 도출하고자 하였다. 그 결과 본고에서 말하는 전주의 개념은 본의에서 이와 관련된 새로운 뜻이 파생되어 전용되는 인신(引伸)이라고 보았다. 이러한 전주자에는 ‘樂’자와 같이 한 글자가 여러 가지 뜻으로 쓰이는 경우도 있고, ‘取’자와 같이 원래의 뜻과 연관된 다른 뜻이 파생되어 원래 글자에 의미를 덧붙여 사용되는 경우도 있다. 이는 전주의 현상을 문자의 본질로부터 연구한 여러 학자들의 전주에 대한 정의와 언어학의 각도에서 언어 그 자체의 현상을 조합한 가장 합리적인 견해라고 생각한다.
Abstract
Letters are signs and tools for recording languages, and the biggest function of letters is to ensure the discrimination of characters for accurate representation and recording of language. However, as human life became more complex, the meaning of expressing an object or concept increased, and the correspondence between letters and meanings could not be maintained in a 1:1 correspondence. Therefore, the principle applied in the process of creating new characters to solve the multiple roles of jiǎjièyì or yǐnshēnyì and enhance the unique discrimination of yǐnshēnyì is zhuänzhü. Zhuānzhū, unlike the other five, has yet to be clearly identified. This paper sought to derive the most general and rational concept of zhuānzhū from the perspective of general literature, looking at the zhuānzhū, which Heo Sin described in “Shuowenjiezi”, snow removal for zhuānzhū, and general literature. As a result, the concept of zhuānzhū, which is described in this paper, is a yǐnshēn whose new meaning is derived from its original meaning and appropriated. In some cases, zhuānzhū has several meanings, such as the letter “樂”, and in some cases, other meanings associated with the original meaning are derived and used in addition to the original meaning is added meaning. This is considered the most reasonable combination of the definition of zhuānzhū and the linguistics of the phenomenon of language itself by scholars who studied the phenomenon of zhuānzhū from the nature of writing.
