기억상실증이 가장 주요한 특징인 알츠하이머병은 <내 머리 속의 지우개>같은 영화 속에서만 일어나는 것만 아니라 현실가운데서도 일어난다. 본고는 현대 노인들의 가장 일반적이면서 심각한 알츠하이머병을 통한 기억상실의 문제를 서술하고 그것이 인간존재에 주는 영향과 의미들을 분석한다. 알츠하이머병은 다른 병과 달리 의식 속에서 자기의 과거를 지우므로 자아 정체성을 결정적으로 훼손하고 나아가 환자가 있는 가정에 심각하게 영향을 준다. 이것을 치유하고 극복하는 길은 의료적 치료 외에 무엇보다 환자를 향한 가족들의 변함없는 사랑임을 본 논문은 강조한다. 어쩌면 영혼의 병이라고 할 수 있는 이 알츠하이머병에 대해 그것을 극복하는 최선의 길이 사랑임을 부각시키고 있는 것이다. 특히 이러한 사랑을 성경적으로 고찰하면서 관계의 힘인 사랑을 통한 기억의 회복과 자기 정체성에로의 복귀를 다루고 있다. 말하자면 하나님과의 사랑을 통해 이스라엘이 자기 정체성을 발견하는 것을 기초로 알츠하이머에 대한 사랑의 치유와 자기 정체성에로의 복귀를 제안하고 있는 것이다.
Abstract
Alzheimer's disease, an incurable, degenerative, and terminal disease, which was first described by German psychiatrist and neuropathologist Alois Alzheimer in 1906~7 and was named after him, is the most common form of dementia, occurred not only in dramas as <An Eraser in My Brain>, but also in reality. This disease has many symptoms as confusion, irritability, aggression, mood swings, language breakdown, and the general withdrawal of the sufferer as their senses decline. The most commonly recognised symptom, however, especially in the early stages, is memory loss. Long-term memory loss erases the past of the patients in their brains and then breaks down their identities. This paper presents that the important method of conquering the disease is loving, besides medical treatments. Loving is the best way to cure the Alzheimer's disease. Finally, with the biblical approach to the relationship of God with Israelites in Bible, we arrive to the conclusion that the patients can be cured and found their identities through enduring loving with members of their family as well as coummuties of love as church.
