‘하나님의 형상의 형상(Imago Imaginis Dei)’으로서의 인공지능 이해: 기독론적 인간론의 관점에서

초록

본고에서는 인공지능 기술이 인간론과 ‘하나님의 형상’에 대하여 던지는 질문에 대한 기독교적 답변을 모색하고자 하였다. 본고에서는 전통적 관점에 따라 인간의 구성 요소를 영혼과 육체라고 본다. 오늘날에는 영혼의 주요한 기능 중 하나로서의 지능에 있어서는 기호주의 및 연결주의 입장에서 시도된 인공지능이 인간에 준할 만한 유사한 구조와 기능을 보이고 있다고 할 수 있으며, 자유 의지의 문제에 있어서는 인공지능이 문제가 아니라 인간의 자유 의지가 부정되고 있는 현실이다. 인공지능에 대한 철학적 반론들은 주로 기호주의 입장에서의 초기 인공지능 프로젝트를 대상으로 하였는데, 이후 포스트-연결주의 입장에서의 인공지능 기술이 발달하고 ‘체화된(embodied) 인지’와 관련하여 인공지능의 몸에 대한 고찰이 이어지면서 비판적 논의의 갱신이 필요한 상황이다. 이에 본고에서는 성육신하신 그리스도를 통해 참된 인간성을 파악할 수 있다는 관점에서 인간이 ‘하나님의 형상(Imago Dei)’임에 주목하고, 인공지능을 ‘하나님의 형상의 형상(Imago Imaginis Dei)’으로 이해할 수 있음을 제안한다. 또한 인공지능을 비롯한 지성적인 존재들 중에서도 오직 인간만이 갖는 탁월성을 논증한다.

Abstract

This article tries to seek Christian answer towards the questions about humanity and ‘the image of God(Imago Dei)’, raised by Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. Here, human components are regarded as soul and body, according to traditional view. About the intelligence as one of the main characteristics of the soul, it can be said that AI sought from the contemporary standpoint of symbolism and connectionism shows the similar structure and function as those of human beings. In the matter of free will, possibility of AI is not a problem, but rather the free will of human is being denied. The philosophical objections to AI mainly focused on early AI projects from the standpoint of symbolism. Since then, AI technology has been developed in the post-connectionism standpoint, and the body of AI has been reviewed in relation to the ‘embodied cognition’. Therefore, it is necessary to update critical discussions now. This article takes the view that true humanity can be grasped through the incarnated Christ. It is suggested that human beings can still be understood as ‘the image of God(Imago Dei)’ and AI can be understood as ‘the image of the image of God(Imago Imaginis Dei)’. Finally, the excellence of only human beings among other intelligent beings, including AI, is discussed.
