【요약문】 이 글은 기존의 정치 개념과 달리 자유의 실현의 동의어로서의 정치 개념을 기반으로, 정치적 행위를 가능하게 하는 변혁의 도구로서의 혁명과 그 행위 주체인 여성의 역할을 논의하려는 목적을 가지고 있다. 아렌트는 인간의 활동을 노동, 작업, 행위로 구분하고, 그 가운데 자유로운 사유와 표현을 통한 자기 존재 인식으로서의 행위를 공적 영역에서 일어나는 정치적 행위로 생각한다. 이러한 정치적 행위 능력은 자유의 실현과 동의어로서, 사람이라면 누구나 갖게 되는 행위 능력이다. 그런데 억압적 정치 상황은 자유로운 정치적 행위를 불가능하게 만든다. 정치적 행위를 수행하기 위해 사람들은 억압적 상황에서 벗어나 자유를 얻고자 하며, 그 방법으로 혁명을 선택한다. 혁명은 경제적 문제와 정치적 문제로 인해 일어나게 되는데, 아렌트는 전자를 실패한 혁명(프랑스 혁명), 후자를 성공한 혁명(미국 혁명)으로 본다. 혁명의 의의가 정치적 목적을 띠느냐에 달려 있는 아렌트의 혁명론의 입장에서, 한국의 4ㆍ19혁명을 한 사례로 분석한다. 혁명 과정에서 주요한 역할을 담당했던 여성이 정치적 행위 주체로서 어떤 입장을 가져야 하느냐를 의식적 파리아의 삶에 비유하여 논의함으로써, 여성 스스로 자기 존재의 정체성을 인식하고 정치적 행위자로서 주체적이고 능동적인 역할을 수행할 수 있다는 기대를 가져본다.
Abstract
Be based on conception of the political as realization of freedom, this article aims at discussion about revolution and the role of women as subject of action. Arendt is divided human activity into labor, work, and action. And she is supposed that political action in public realm is self-cognition through free thinking and speaking. This political action is realization of freedom. Everybody has a ability of thinking and speaking as action. By the way oppressive political situation is impossible of free political action. To political action, everybody obtains freedom, and choose a revolution as a method. Revolution is caused by the economical and the political problem. Arendt is valued that the one(the economical) is failure of revolution while the other(the political) is success of revolution. And 4ㆍ19 Revolution in Korea measure failure or success with the foundation of Arendt’s position. In discussion of women as the conscious pariah, I expect that women by her recognize a identity of gender and carry out the subjective-positive role as political agent.
