나는 이리가레가 「장소, 인터벌: 아리스토텔레스의 자연학 4부 읽기」에서 아리스토텔레스의 『자연학』4부에 있는 견해들 가운데 무엇을 어떻게 왜 해설하는지를 분석해 다음과 같이 논증한다. 첫째, 이리가레는 아리스토텔레스가 지적하는 장소에 관한 제논의 난제를 풀면서 남성의 장소 퀘스트를 여성의 장소 퀘스트에 의존하는 것으로 보고 장소 퀘스트에 성공한 여성을 신으로 이해한다. 둘째, 이리가레가 아리스토텔레스의 장소 개념에 주목하는 이유는 아리스토텔레스의 장소 독립 우선 논증 때문이다. 셋째, 이리가레의 여성 장소 논증은 아리스토텔레스의 장소 독립 우선 논증과 함께 이리가레가 장소 퀘스트에 성공한 여성을 신으로 본다는 나의 「장소, 인터벌」읽기를 뒷받침한다.
Abstract
I analyze L. Irigaray's interpretation of Aristotle's Physics, Part 4 in her “Place, Interval” and argue the following. First, Irigaray solves the problem of Xenon about the place pointed out by Aristotle, and sees the man's place quest as dependent on the woman's place quest, and understands the woman who succeeded in the place quest as a god. Second, the reason why Irigaray pays attention to Aristotle's concept of place is because of his argument for place independence and priority. Third, Irigaray's argument for woman-place supports together with Aristotle's argument for place independence and priority my reading of “Place, Interval,” that Irigaray sees woman who succeeded in the place quest as a god.
