'공공기록'으로서 방송·영상 콘텐츠의 '아카이브 효과' 연구

초록

본 논문에서는 방송·영상 콘텐츠가 성격과 내용 등의 차원에서 왜 ‘공공기록’으로서 의미를 갖는지, 또한 과거에 제작되었던 방송·영상콘텐츠를 ‘자료화면’으로서 이용하는 과정에서 얻는 효과는 무엇인지에 대해 논의했다. 이를 통해, 본 논문에서는 과거에 제작된 방송·영상콘텐츠를 창작 자원으로 활용하면서 만들어지는 ‘아카이브 효과’에 대해서 검토했다. 20세기를 전후하여 기록학계에서는 포스터모더니즘을 수용하며 ‘공공기록’은 단순히 공공기관이 생산한 기록 외에도 사회구성원의 다양한 관심사와 활동영역을 담은 ‘공공의 기록’이라는 의미로 변화하고 있다. 대중들의 당대 문화 수용을 기록화는 방송·영상콘텐츠는 기록보존소가 관심을 두어야 할 대표적인 ‘공공기록’이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 방송·영상콘텐츠의 공적 가치를 논의하기 위해 기호로서의 ‘영상’의 생산 및 수용과정과 ‘텔레비전 연구’를 통해 밝혀진 텔레비전 영상 수용 양상을 검토했다. 또한, 국내외에서 영화학 분야를 중심으로 활발히 논의되고 있는 ‘습득영상’ 및 ‘자료화면’ 활용 효과에 대해서도 논의했다. 본 논문에서 선행연구 등을 통해 살펴본 방송·영상콘텐츠의 ‘아카이브 효과(Archive Effect)’란, ‘설명적 예시’, ‘대항역사’, ‘시간적 간극’, ‘의도적 간극’ 등이다. 특히, 방송·영상콘텐츠가 아카이브로서 활용된 효과를 분석하기 위해서는 수용자, 즉 시청자의 수용 방식과 과정을 살펴보아야 한다는 점을 강조했다. 본 논문에서는 또한, 특정 방송사의 콘텐츠가 ‘공공영상’아카이브로 수집된 이후 오랜 세대에 걸쳐 방송·영상콘텐츠가 활용되는 과정에서 콘텐츠의 활용가치를 극대화시키는 요소에 대해서도 논의했다. 즉, 기술적(descriptive) 메타데이터가 정확하고 신뢰할 수 있는 정보로 구성되었을 때, 오랜 세대를 지나 과거의 방송·영상콘텐츠는 이용자에게 충분히 ‘설명’되면서 활용가치가 높아진다는 점을 강조했다.

Abstract

In this paper, why broadcast and video content has meaning as a ‘public record’ in terms of characteristics and content, and what effects are obtained from the process of using broadcast and video content produced in the past as a ‘past images’. discussed. Through this, this paper we reviews the Archive effects created by using broadcast and video contents produced in the past as creative resources. Around the 20th century, the archivists accepted the Postmodernism and paid attention to the function of public archives as a Public Sphere. It means that public records are changing to mean public records that contain various interests and activities of members of society in addition to simply records produced by public institutions. Broadcasting and audiovisual contents that document the public’s reception of contemporary culture are representative Public Records that archives should pay attention to. In this paper, in order to discuss the public value of broadcasting and audiovisual contents, the production and reception process of ‘an image’ as a sign and the pattern of reception of television images studied by the Television Studies are reviewed. In addition, the effect of using researched images and past images, which have been actively discussed in the field of Film Studies since 2018, is also discussed. In this paper, the Archive Effect of broadcasting and audiovisual contents examined through previous studies, etc. is Expository mode, Counternarrative, Temporal disparity, Intentional disparity, etc. In particular, it was emphasized that in order to analyze the effect of broadcasting and audiovisual content as an archive, it is necessary to examine the reception method and process of the audience. In this paper, it is said that there is a value in utilizing contents in the process of using broadcast and audiovisual contents for a long time after the contents of a specific broadcaster were collected in the Public Audiovisual Archives. In other words, it is emphasized that when descriptive metadata is composed of accurate and reliable information, broadcasting and audiovisual contents of the past after a long generation are sufficiently explained to users and the value of use increases.
