인류가 기억과 지식을 흔적과 기록으로 남기고 다시 찾기 위한여정은 항상 저장 매개체와 과학, 기술 발전의 역사 안에 있었다. 방대한 디지털 정보가 쏟아지면서 우리의 기억도 디지털 기억에 의존해야 하는 시대이다. 디지털 미디어에 기록화가 가능한 이후 문화적 다양성을 확보한 대신 정보 생산 능력이 저장 능력을 능가하게 되었다. 개인, 사회적 기억과 공유된 지식이 디지털 네트워크로 인해 문화적 다양성을 가능하게 한 것은 분명하지만, 집단 기억의 미래뿐만이 아니라 과거까지도 디지털 시대에 맞게 기억 체계를 맞추어가야 하는 것도 분명하다. 데이터로 저장된 기억은 기억일까? 디지털로 기억된 기억은 미래에 얼마만큼 유용하고, 현재의 정보는 어떤흔적으로 남아 앞으로 호출될 수 있을까? 그런 점에서 디지털로 기억되었든 아니든 상관없이 결국 기억은 과거가 아니라 “미래”에 관련한 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 디지털로 기억하는 시대에 디지털 정보 서비스와 이용자 간의 병렬적 관계를 생각하고, 새로운 재결합담론을 고찰해 보는 것을 주요 목적으로 한다.
Abstract
The journey of mankind to reclaim memory and knowledge, leaving traces and records, has always been in the history of storage media, science and technological development. With the great influx of digital information, our memories also have to depend on digital memories. Instead of securing cultural diversity after digital media became possible to record, the ability to produce information has surpassed the ability to store. It is an age of information overproduction, but its storage and management methods are also dependent on the possibility of damage. It is clear that personal memory and shared knowledge have enabled cultural diversity through digital networks, but it is also evident that not only the future of collective memory but also the past must follow the memory system with the digital age. Is a memory stored as data considered as a memory? We can only imagine and predict how much digital memories will be useful and what traces of current information will remain and can be called in the future. So regardless of whether or not it was digitally remembered, in the end, memory is not relating to the past, but about the “future.” Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to touch on the parallel relationship between digital information services and users of information in an age of digital memory, and to consider a new recombination discourse.
