Abstract
This paper examines the current status and characteristics of the recommended book list of Yonsei University in Korea and Tsinghua University in China, among Korean-Chinese universities, and makes recommendations for reading education. The two universities have a relatively high status in the country, and have clearly presented a list of recommended books publicly. In this study, the current status of books such as related areas, authors, books, countries, and publication dates were summarized, and the list of commonly selected books and differences between universities, limitations, and directions were examined. In addition, based on the results, the direction of how books should be used for 'reading education' in terms of literacy education was evaluated. For example, it was considered that the book information provided to university students needs to be improved to make it more interesting and accessible, education on the concept and recognition of ‘classic’ is required, and customized reading methods and reading education for each field are required. This study has significance in attempting an academic and convergence approach by examining the recommended book lists of Korean and Chinese universities. Although it also has a limitation that the comparison target is limited to two universities, it is thought to be meaningful in that it motivates university students to know the value of classics and induces them to seek practical measures. Starting from this, we will try to study the classical reading of many universities in Korea and China, and in the process, richer issues will be discussed.
