본 연구는 대학생 독서 정체 현상의 주요 원인이 교육 시스템의 구조적 한계에 있음을 진단하고, 학생들의 독서 의도와 실행 간의 괴리를 극복할 독서교육 개선 방향을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 A대학교 학생을 대상으로 설문조사 및 주제 분석(Thematic Analysis) 기반 초점집단면접(FGI)을 병행하는 혼합 연구 설계(Mixed-Methods Design)를 적용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생의 독서 의지는 높았으나 실제 독서량 및 독서 능력에 대한 만족도는 현저히 낮아 ‘독서 의도와 실행 간의 괴리’현상을 확인하였다. 특히 체계적인 독서 방법론 교육의 부재가 핵심 원인으로 진단되었다. 둘째, 독서 장애 요인으로 ‘시험 준비/과제 및 디지털 매체 이용’과 같은 ‘구조적 시간 제약’이 가장 크게 나타났다. 이를 해소하기 위해 저부담 평가(P/F, 절대평가)를 통한 교육적 강제력 부여와 교과-비교과 연계 등을 요구했다 셋째 응답자의 독서 비교과 프로그램 참여 경험은 11.3%에 불과했으며 미참여자의 89.4%가 프로그램 정보를 자세히 알지 못하는 실질적인 인지 장벽이 문제 였다. 이는 접근성 및 소통 시스템의 근본적인 개선이 요구됨을 시사한다. 본 연구는 이러한 실증적 분석을 토대로 교과-비교과 연계 통합 로드맵 구축, 하이브리드 교육 환경 활용을 통한 시공간 제약 극복, 독서 환경 개선 및 학생과의 소통 강화 시스 템 구축 등 독서교육 개선 방향을 구체적인 실행 방안과 함께 제언하였다.
Abstract
This study diagnoses university students’ reading stagnation as a problem rooted in structural limitations of the education system, aiming to explore practical solutions to overcome the Reading Intention-Action Gap. A Mixed-Methods Design combining a survey and Thematic Analysis-based FGI was applied to students at ‘A’ University. The findings confirmed the ‘gap between reading intention and execution’: high motivation but significantly low satisfaction with actual volume and ability. The core cause was identified as the lack of systematic reading methodology education. The primary obstacle was ‘structural time constraint’ (exams/digital media), leading participants to request educational compulsion via grade flexibility(P/F, absolute grading) and Curricular-Extra-Curricular linkage. Furthermore, low program participation(11.3%) was attributed to a practical cognitive barrier, with 89.4% of non-participants lacking detailed program information. Based on this empirical analysis, the study proposes directions for reading education improvement, including establishing an integrated Curricular-Extra-Curricular Linkage Roadmap based on grade flexibility, utilizing hybrid educational environments to mitigate temporal constraints, and fundamentally improving communication systems.
