한국 브이로그 콘텐츠에 나타난 음식명 문화소의 중국어 자막 번역 전략 연구-시청자 반응을 중심으로-

Abstract

This study examines the translation strategies for food-related cultural elements in the subtitles of Korean daily-life vlogs, which have recently attracted significant attention in China. The analysis first addresses the distinct characteristics of vlog subtitle translation compared to general audiovisual translation. To assess viewers' comprehension of cultural elements, the study collects and reviews subtitles, on-screen comments (danmu), and written comments from vlog content. The findings indicate that, depending on the situational context of the vlog, appropriate strategies for translating food-related cultural elements are required to facilitate Chinese viewers' accurate understanding of the source text. The strategies are analyzed from three perspectives: viewer responses, Chinese cognitive and regional factors, and the need for supplementary explanations. The study aims to provide practical reference cases for Korean-Chinese translators working with food-related cultural elements in vlogs, with the expectation that more effective strategies will lead to translations that are more readily accepted by audiences.
