통합적 체육교육론에서 아놀드 ‘practical knowledge’ 개념 사용의 문제

통합적 체육교육론은 근래 우리 체육교육의 이론적, 실천적 전개에서 큰 비중을 차지하고 있다. 따라서 그에 관한 반성을 통한 타당화 노력은 매우 당위적이다. 이에 본고는 통합적 체육교육론의 개념적 기반을 이루는 ‘실천적 지식(practical knowledge; 이하, PK)’의 해석 및 적용 타당성을 논구하였다. 통합적 체육교육론자들은 체육활동에 대한 이전의 탐구 및 실천이 참가자의 주관적 의미 추구에 편향되어 있다고 비판한다. 그 예로서 아놀드(Arnold)의 PK 개념도 주관적 의미에 제한된다고 본다. 그러나 아놀드는 스포츠, 무용 등의 원천인 움직임 활동에 직결된 실천적 지식(PK)과 이론적 지식(theoretical knowledge; 이하, TK) 간의 상보성, 그리고 공통 요소로서의 합리성을 바탕으로 하여 양자를 통합하면서 PK 개념을 사회적, 객관적 차원으로 확장시킨다. 따라서 아놀드의 PK 개념을 주관적 차원에 한정하는 것은 부당한 오해이며, 본고는 이 오해를 입증하기 위하여 통합적 체육교육론에서의 아놀드 PK 개념에 관한 해석의 정확성, 적용의 타당성을 검토하고자 하였다.
Abstract
The theory of integrative sport teaching currently has the greatest impact on the theoretical and practical approach to our physical education so the reflective thinking stands to reason for its exquisite and careful validation. In this respect, the purpose of this article is to investigate the validity of the ‘practical knowledge’(PK) and its conceptualization that can be a valuable way to understand the idea of the integrative sport teaching theory. In that theory, it is argued that an existing account of PK is limiting and subjective. And Arnold’s PK is also prescribed like that. But his PK fully embraces objectivity and publicness as well as subjectivity by the expansion of ‘knowledge’ based on the reasoning of complementarity and rationality between movement, physical activity knowledge(PK) which are indispensable for sport, dance and theoretical, propositional knowledge(TK). Therefore it is misled understandings to decide Arnold’s PK by limiting in the realm of subjectivity. And thus, it is necessary to analyze not only the exact interpretation but also the conceptual coherence of PK in the theory of integrative sport teaching.
