이 논문은 우리나라 체육계열학과 학부교육을 이론과 실기의 맥락에서 검토해본 것이다. 체육계열학과는 1950년 이래 학교체육, 사회체육, 레저스포츠 등의 영역을 확장해 왔는데, 동시에 이론과 실기의 영역 모두에서 근본적 문제를 누적해 왔다. 첫째, 이론 영역에서 전문직무, 경기종목 특화의 추구에 따라 새로운 교과목이 다수 등장한다. 이는 체육학의 정체성과 통합성을 지지하는, 문리학문에 바탕을 둔 기축 교과목을 축소하거나 폐지하는 쪽으로 압력을 가한다. 둘째, 실기 영역에서 운동경기 수행능력이 과도하게 강조됨으로써 전문직무 수행역량을 기르는 실습의 의미 및 요구를 충실하게 담보하지 못한다. 즉 체육계열학과 학부교육은 이론 교과목의 과중함과 실습 교과목의 부족함으로 대별되는 양상이다.
Abstract
This article reviews the undergraduate kinesiology and physical education (KPE) program in South Korea, which focuses on theoretical and practical dimensions. Since 1950, KPE in higher education has expanded in areas such as school, community, and leisure sports, but the program has been facing fundamental problems in the curriculum. First, in the theoretical dimension, several new subjects emerge as vocational jobs and sports specialization. Emerging new subjects reduces and abolish basic subjects that supports kinesiology's identity and unity. Second, the practical dimension, most programs over-focus on sports skills, which causes a deficient of practical education.
