Abstract
This study aimed to identify differences in core stability and anaerobic power, which are essential factors for competitive performance in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, according to athletes’ performance levels. Five high-performance athletes and five low-performance athletes participated in the study, and core stability was measured using the CENTAUR 3D System, while upper- and lower-limb anaerobic power were assessed using an arm ergometer and Wingate cycle test. Data obtained from the measurements were analyzed using independent t-tests with SPSS 29.0 to examine intergroup differences. The results showed that core stability was significantly higher (p<.05) in the high-performance group compared to the low-performance group at 0°, 45°, -45°, 90°, and -90°. Similarly, upper-limb anaerobic power demonstrated significantly higher values (p<.05) for PP, PP/BM, MP/BM, and RF in the high-performance group, and lower-limb anaerobic power also showed statistically higher values (p<.05) for PP, PP/BM, MP/BM, and RF compared to the low-performance group. These findings suggest that improving core stability and anaerobic power is crucial for enhancing competitive performance in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, particularly through training programs focused on explosive power development and core strength enhancement. Future research should expand the sample size and include comparisons of various fighting styles to establish comprehensive training guidelines.
