Abstract

This article examines the relationship between the primitive thinking of wishing for abundance and the perception of sex formed by the influence of the times and social trends through the example of a village ritual offering Namgeun as a tribute in the East Coast area. It is perhaps a very common thought to see the sea that brings us a lot as a woman, and to expect the return of abundance by offering a southern root. And this perception changes with the trend of the times. Mythology is often regarded as a story of origin story. However, conversely, myths exist to explain certain actions. Through the reviewed cases of Mangae Village, Sinnam-ri, and Aninjin-ri, we were able to examine the changes in religious behavior and the changes in your paintings. Mangae Village adjusted the number of wooden male roots offered by raising the village ritual as a shamanic ritual. In the case of Aninjin-ri, it was confirmed that the service of woody phallus was no longer performed, but this was added through Mythology of Village. Sinnam-ri has an active offering woody phallus, and the narrative logic between the contents of the Mythology of Village and offering woody phallus has been confirmed to be somewhat insufficient. However, it appears that this is being developed as a local cultural content. It seems that the continuation/disruption of offering woody phallus is being explained through Mythology of Village. Although these rituals differ in the present aspect, there is a perception that the results of the simulated sexual activity imagined by the dedication of the female god of the sea and woody phallus, who govern the sea, will return to tremendous productivity. The offering woody phallus Pavilion, which is renewed every year, can be said to wish the sea god, who has a strong vitality, to achieve a good catch every year. It is to pray for the productivity of abundant fish in fishing villages by filling the maiden gods with men lacking in male roots. It contains a healthy sexual perception by revealing and elevating it to a public space, not by concealing the act of consolation and great creative behavior toward the goddess.
