Abstract
Gaya, an ancient country that existed in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula during the Three Kingdoms period of the Korean Peninsula, can be distinguished from the period of the ealry Gaya, Dae-Gaya, Ara-Gaya, Bihwa-Gaya, etc. through research results so far. The Gaya tombs, designated by UNESCO, also clearly reveals the appearance of these early Gaya and late Gaya. In particular, the appearance of each country in the late Gaya period, which had its own burial culture by making gigantic mound tombs during the ancient tomb with a gigantic mound period, is characteristic. The political body that existed in ancient Busan also moved from Bokcheon-dong to Yeonsan-dong at this time to build the tombs with a gigantic mound. This is the center of the controversy over the situation in Busan at the time. In the 2010s, the excavation of the ancient tomb with a gigantic mound in various parts of the country began to provide a new perspective on the study of the Three Kingdoms period on the Korean Peninsula. The Yeonsan-dong Ancient Tombs, the only the Ancient Tomb with a gigantic mound in Busan, also began to discuss the identity of the political system in Busan during the 2010-2013 period, as tombs with a gigantic mound were investigated. The Yeonsan-dong Ancient Tombs, which were confirmed as excavation results, enabled us to grasp the pattern of the politics in Busan after the suspension of the large-scale construction of the Bokcheon-dong Ancient Tombs, which had been unclear so far. Based on this, data on other ancient tombs in the late 5th and 6th centuries in Busan began to be interpreted from a new perspective. In this paper, we looked at the identity of the politics in Busan during the ancient tombs with a gigantic mound period, centering on the Yeonsan-dong Ancient Tombs, which had not received much attention from a different perspective from the debates that were mainly dealt with in the past. Located on the southeastern coast of the Korean Peninsula, the Busan area has served as a window for the movement of civilization since prehistoric times. It was a place where people and goods could be moved more freely than other regions, and people who lived in Busan easily accepted the new culture and quickly harmonized it with what they had. Such was the case with the politics that existed in Busan after the dissolution of Geumgwan-Gaya. A new culture called the tombs with a gigantic mound was incorporated into the foundation of the tradition of burial of remains ritual that has been passed down since the previous generation. The ancient tomb with a gigantic mound period in Busan, represented by Yeonsan-dong Ancient Tombs, have inherited the tradition of the previous generation and created new things. It was possible to confirm the originality of the ancient tombs in Busan, such as the adoption of a row of another pit-style stone-lined pit burial tombs, the act of digging a shallow pit transfusion on one short wall of a stone-lined pit burial tomb and delivering earthenware, the 'Busan-style Mounted cup' with a three-tiered leg, the large bowl-shaped pottery, and the jar with long necked, as well as the tradition of obtaining genealogy from the previous generation, the method of constructing the tomb with a gigantic mound, the 'Yeonsan-dong-style Mounted cup' of the leg of many protruded line, the 'Kimhae-type short-leg Gobae', the horizontal plates armor and helmets, and the long sword-shaped arrowhead.
