공감에 대한 메를로-퐁티의 ‘살’적 분석

서양 주체철학의 도덕적 선험성은 우리의 현실적인 물리적 자기이해관계를 극복할 정도로 자명하거나 직접적이지 않다. 이런 점에서 ‘나와 타자와의 정서적 어울림’이라는 공감은 이성적인 사유이전의 감성적인 느낌이라는 점에서 직접적이면서 즉각적이며 항상적이다. 하지만 새로운 도덕규범으로서의 공감은 여전히 현상적 분석에 머물러 있다. 메를로-퐁티의 ‘살’은 공감에 그것의 철학적 토대를 제공한다. ‘나’와 ‘타자’의 근원적인 연루의 지지대로서의 ‘살’은 존재론적으로 ‘나’와 ‘타자’의 근원적인 연루를 지시할 뿐만이 아니라, ‘나’와 ‘타자’와의 관계라는 정형화된 틀 속에서 존재자들의 변화를 추동시키는 모태로서 기능한다. ‘나’와 ‘타자’의 ‘같은 마음’인 공감 역시 ‘살’적 운동이 보여주는 가역적 운동이 결과하는 상호신체성에 다름 아니다. ‘나’와 ‘타자’ 간에 보여주는 즉발적이고 동시적인 정서적 공유는 한편으로 인간신체적 차원에서 나와 타자가 근원적으로 연루되어 있음을 확인해 준다. 이것은 ‘나’라는 존재가 가지는 ‘타자’에 대한 근원적인 지향성을 의미한다. 다른 한편으로, ‘나’와 ‘타자’ 간에 보여주는 즉발적이고 동시적인 정서의 공유는 ‘나’와 ‘타자’와의 근원적인 연루의 틀 속에서 이루어지는 가역적 운동을 의미한다.
Abstract
This transcendental philosophy cannot present a self-evidential internal motivation behind moral actions. With regards to this, the ‘sympathy’ is given as new moral norm. The ‘sympathy’ as emotion is direct and consistent given that feeling occurs prior to thinking. But previous studies on the ‘sympathy’ rest in phenomenal approach. Merleau-Ponty’s ‘flesh’ presents ‘sympathy’ its philosophical basis. ‘Flesh’ as the support of original involvement between I and other directs the original relationship between I and other. In addition, ‘flesh’ is the matrix which drives the changes of a being. ‘Sympathy’ is the intercorporeity which results from flesh’s reversible exercise. The immediate and simultaneous ‘emotional sharing’ between I and other confirms the original involvement between I and other. This means my original direction toward other. On one hand, the immediate and simultaneous ‘emotional sharing’ between I and other confirms the ‘seeing and being seen’ reversible exercise.
