본 논문은 한반도 평화교육의 새로운 지향점으로 호모 후마니타스(Homo humánĭtas) 라는 교육적 인간상을 제시하고자 한다. 호모 후마니타스는 인간다움과 인류애를 내면화하고 이를 실천하며 살아가는 존재를 의미한다. 호모후마니타스는 평화를 성찰하는 지적 능력, 타자의 고통에 공감하고 연대할 수있는 정의적 능력, 평화를 실천하는 행동적 능력이 조화롭게 발달한 전인적 인간으로 인류애를 바탕으로 평화로운 세상을 만들어가는 데 기여하는 사람이다. 호모 후마니타스를 기르기 위해서는 사랑을 통한 공동체성의 회복, 회복적 정의와 용서를 통한 분단 상처의 치유, 인권 감수성을 통한 평화 구축의 토대 마련이 한반도 평화교육의 핵심 내용이 되어야 한다. 그리고 이러한 교육은 대화, 연대, 참여와 실천이라는 3가지 핵심 방법을 통해 실시되어야 한다. 이를 위해향후 한반도 평화교육은 일상에서 실천 가능한 평화교육 방법의 구체화, 평화교육의 국제적 연대와 협력 강화, 평화교육의 지속 가능성을 위한 법·제도적 기반 마련이라는 과제를 수행해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This study proposes Homo Humanitas as a new educational ideal for peace education on the Korean Peninsula. Homo Humanitas embodies humanity and universal love, integrating intellectual reflection on peace, empathy and solidarity with others’ suffering, and active engagement in peacebuilding. Such individuals contribute to a peaceful world grounded in love for humankind. Key elements for fostering Homo Humanitas include: restoring community through love, healing division wounds through restorative justice and forgiveness, and cultivating human rights sensitivity as a foundation for peace. Education should be implemented through three core methods: dialogue, solidarity, and active participation. To achieve this, future peace education on the Korean Peninsula must undertake the following tasks: concretizing peace education methods applicable in everyday life, strengthening international solidarity and cooperation in peace education, and establishing legal and institutional foundations to ensure the sustainability of peace education.
