‘보수의 보수’로서 대구는 보수 내부의 상대적으로 강경하고 경직된 흐름을 주도하는 지역으로 인식되고 있다. 이러한 평가를 수용하면서, 본 연구는 보수주의 이념의 본원적 지향과 가치를 기준으로, 이것과는 차별적인 대구 보수의 이념적 예외성과 그에 따른 다양한 문제를 살펴보았다. 이것은 정치 영역은 물론이고 사회의 전체 영역에서 한국의 보수를 과대하게 대표하고 있는 대구의 보수가 전통적인 보수주의 이념에 얼마나 충실한가를 검토하는 과정이었다. 본 연구의 목적은 보수주의 이념의 본원적 지향을 확인하고, 이에 기초하여 대구 보수의 이념적 특성을 구체적으로 검토하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 첫째, ‘실체적·보편적 보수주의’ 개념으로 보수주의의 전통적 이념과 가치를 규정하였다. 이후 수구주의와의 비교‧검토를 통하여 양자의 이념적 차별성을 살펴보면서, 보다 구체적인 수준에서 보수주의의 이념적 지향을 확인하였다. 둘째, 대구 보수의 이념적 특성을 살펴보기 위하여, 이것이 형성된 기반인 ‘상황적 보수주의’로서 ‘후발형‧파생형’ 한국 보수의 역사적 조건에 대하여 검토하였다. 그리고 한국 보수의 이념적 문제를 압축하고 있는 대구 보수의 수구적 성향을 구체적으로 확인하였다. 결론에서는 대구의 ‘보수 이념적 정상화’라는 과제를 제기하였다. 그러면서 이를 위한 이념적 준거로서, 특정한 역사적 상황에 구속되지 않는 실체적이고 보편적인 가치를 내포하는 철학적 보수주의의 논리에 주목하였다.
Abstract
Daegu has been perceived as the region that leads the somewhat rigid current of so-called “hardline conservatism” in Korean society. Acknowledging this fact, this study examines the ideological exceptionalism of Daegu conservatism and the problems it causes, using the fundamental orientation and values of conservative ideology as a standard. The purpose of this study is to identify the fundamental orientation of conservative ideology and, based on this, to closely analyze the ideological characteristics of Daegu conservatism. To this end, first, the traditional ideas and values of conservatism are defined as ‘substantive and universal conservatism.’ And by comparing this with reactionaryism, this study identifies their ideological orientation of conservative thought at a more specific level. Second, in order to investigate the ideological characteristics of Daegu conservatism, this study examines late-developing and derivative Korean conservatism as a ‘situational conservatism,’ which is the basis for the formation of Daegu ideological characteristics. Then It analyzes in detail the reactionary tendencies of Daegu conservatism, which embody the ideological problems of Korean conservatism. In conclusion, this study raises the task of ‘ideological normalization of Daegu conservatism.’ As the normative framework for this task, it focuses philosophical conservatism, which embodies substantive and universal values not bound by particular historical circumstances.
