이 논문은 하근찬 작가가 추구한 휴머니즘적 이상을 규명하고 한국의 전후문학에서 그의 소설이 갖는 의의를 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 즉, 하근찬 소설 세계에 대한 기존의 인식을 재해석하려는 것이다. 하근찬 작가가 활동했던 당대 전후문학의 경향을 살펴보면 '동일성' 현상이 두 가지 양상으로 나타나고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 하나는 근대적 환경과의 동일성을 보여준 양상이며, 또 하나는 전통적 질서와의 동일시적 세계관을 추구한 양상이다. 이러한 문학적 양상 속에서 하근찬은 후자의 상상력으로 독특한 소설 세계를 구축해 나갔다. 그의 소설은, 전쟁의 상처와 치유의 균형을 이루지 못한 비인간화의 양상을 보여준 주류적 소설 풍토와는 결을 달리한 특이점을 보여준다. 특히 전쟁의 풍토에 저항하지 않고 자기 고유의 세계로 도피하려는 경향이, 아이러니하게도 치유의 서사를 확립한다는 사실에 주목했다. 이처럼 하근찬의 작품은 폭력과 억압을 낳을 수밖에 없는 근대 체제에 저항함으로써 전후의 경직된 휴머니즘에 활력을 불어넣은 것으로 판단된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the ideal of humainism pursued by the artist Ha Geun-chan and to clarify the significance of his novel in Korean postwar literature. In other words, it is to reinterpret the existing perception of Ha Geun-chan's novel world. Looking at the trends of postwar literature in which contemporary artist Ha Geun-chan worked, it can be seen that the 'identity' phenomenon appears in two aspects. One is the aspect that shows the identity with the modern environment, and the other is the aspect of pursuing the world view which is identical with the traditional order. In this literary aspect, Ha Geun-chan built a unique novel oorld with the latter imagination. His novels show a peculiar built a unique novel world with the latter imagination. In particular, be noted that the tendency to escape to his own world without resisting the climate of war ironically establishes a narrative of healing. Likewise, Ha Geun-chan's consciousness of the artist is believed to have energized post-war rigid humanism by resisting the modern system that can only lead to violence and oppression.
