전통적 가치에 대한 학생들의 의식 조사

Abstract

This survey is about understanding and preference of traditional values and it will be used as a preliminary data to organize education program for modernization of traditional education and democratic citizenship. This is especially based on the contents for the analysis of student’s understanding and evaluation of tradition in terms of interdisciplinary consilience of political science, oriental philosophy and pedagogy. Based on the literature survey and expert’s advice, this is divided into three sections, A: Interest and preference of our traditional culture, B: Necessity and availability of tradition and traditional culture, C: Interest and preference of traditional education, and they have 5 items each, that is comprised of five-point scale 15 questionnaire items total. Primary objective of the questionnaire items is to figure out the overall impression and image rather than estimate their specific knowledge on the contents of tradition and traditional education. The questioned of this survey are elementary, middle, high school, and university students who live in capital area such as Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi and their grade and age are distributed evenly and for the convenience, the survey is performed on each school. The total questioned is 1,598 and 16.5 years old in average. As a result, they showed passive response on the availability and effect on school field of the traditional education rather than necessity and anticipation. Therefore, it is meaningless in the sense of effectiveness to teach traditional culture adhere to traditional method without reflection of the phases of the times or considering personality, interest and intellectual level of students. Elementary school students showed high response rate and the reason is considered the lower grades have many chances to study and experience traditional items through regular school class and various activities but the higher grades such as high school and university students, due to the strong burden of entrance exam and getting a job, have lack of opportunity to study and experience them and less interest in them. Therefore, in order to carry forward modernization of traditional education with high degree of completion, it is necessary to combine close cooperation and support among the various educational participants.
