한국과 중국의 6·25전쟁 기술 오류에 대한 고찰: 1950년 10월 25일 국군 제1사단과 중국인민지원군 제120사단 간 최초 개전 시간을 중심으로

본 연구는 ‘1950년 10월 25일 국군의 어느 부대가 중국인민지원군의 어느 부대와, 그리고 몇 시에 최초의 전투가 시작되었는가?’에 대한 답을 찾는 일환으로 먼저국군 제1사단과 중국인민지원군 제40군단 제120사단 간의 전투 개전시간을 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 국내와 중국 자료에서 기술하고 있는 개전 시간의 차이를 분석하였고, 그 결과, 해당 전투의 개전 시간은 크게 ‘오전 7시경’, ‘오전 8시 30분경’, ‘오전 11시경’ 등 세 가지 설이 존재함을 확인하였다. 중국에서 널리 인용되는 ‘오전 7시경’은 실제 국군 제1사단 제12연대의 출발 시간이었으나 이를 개전 시간으로 오용한 것이고, ‘오전 8시 30분경’ 또한 출처가 불명확함에도 한국과 중국의 공간사(公刊史)에서 오용한 경우였다. 아울러 일부 자료에서 중국인민지원군과 최초 전투한 부대를 국군 제1사단 제15연대로 기술하고 있으나 실제로는 제12연대가 제1사단의 선두부대로서 국군 제1사단 중에서 중국인민지원군과 최초 전투한 부대이며, 개전 시간은 ‘오전 11시(+30분)’으로 확인되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 이러한 결과를 기반으로 기존 잘못된 내용을 수정 및 보완하고, 나아가 1950년 10월 25일 국군 제1사단과 중국인민지원군 제120사단 간의 전투 개전 시간을 수정하는 데 일조하고자 한다.
Abstract
This study aims to answer the question, “Which unit of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army first engaged with which unit of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army(CPVA) on October 25, 1950, and at what time did the battle begin?” In doing so, it examines the initial engagement time between the ROK 1st Division and the CPVA 120th Division of the 40th Corps. The study analyzes discrepancies in reported battle initiation times found in Korean and Chinese sources and identifies three main timeframes: around 7:00 a.m., around 8:30 a.m., and around 11:00 a.m.The widely cited time of “around 7:00 a.m.” in Chinese sources actually refers to the departure time of the ROK 1st Division’s 12th Regiment and not the start of combat—indicating a misinterpretation. The “around 8:30 a.m.” claim, also frequently cited in official Korean and Chinese histories, lacks a clear source and represents another case of misrepresentation. Additionally, some sources mistakenly identify the ROK 1st Division’s 15th Regiment as the unit that first engaged the CPVA; however, it was actually the 12th Regiment, which was the lead unit of the ROK 1st Division and the first to engage the Chinese forces. The actual time of the first engagement was confirmed to be around 11:00 a.m. Therefore, based on these findings, this study aims to correct and supplement existing inaccuracies, and contribute to the accurate reconstruction of both the battle and the initiation time between the ROK 1st Division and the CPVA 120th Division on October 25, 1950.
