신 비행지표 활용을 통한 청소년비행에 대한 무단결석의 역할 분석 – 학교만족도의 조절효과를 중심으로

본 연구의 목표는 서울시에 거주하는 여자중학생을 대상으로 청소년 비행의 원인을 규명하는 것이다. 이를 위해 첫째, 청소년 비행을 보다 정확하고 효과적으로 측정할 수 있는 새로운 비행 지표를개발하여 적용하였다. 둘째, 무단결석이 비행으로의 발전에 있어서출구적 역할을 한다는 가정아래 과연 무단결석이 비행에 영향을 미치는 위험요인과 보호요인에 매개적 역할을 하고 있는지를 고찰하였다. 마지막으로 학교만족도에 따라 위험요인과 보호요인이 비행에 영향을 미치는 영향과 무단결석의 매개효과에 차이가 있는지를살펴보았다. 그 결과 첫째, 무단결석은 비행에 영향을 미치는 개인적 위험요인의 매개적 역할을 하고 있었다. 그러나 개인의 위험요인이 비행에 영향을 미치는 직접효과가 무단결석을 통한 간접효과보다 더 영향력이 컸다. 둘째, 학교만족도가 높은 경우에는 위험요인과 보호요인이 비행에 영향을 미치지 않았고, 무단결석의 매개효과도 없었다. 그러나 학교만족도가 낮은 경우에는 무단결석이 개인의 위험요인과 비행의 매개적 역할을 하고 있었다. 이를 통해 학교라는 공간에 대한 만족도가 청소년들의 위험요인이 비행에 미치는영향을 조절함을 확인할 수 있었으며, 청소년시기의 비행을 억제하는 데 주요하게 기여하는 요인임을 다시 한 번 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to investigate determinants of juvenile delinquency for junior-high school female students residing in Seoul Metropolitan City. In order for the present article to address the research goal successfully, the following three strategies are employed. First, a new delinquency index was developed and applied in order to measure juvenile delinquency more accurately. Second, assuming that truancy may play an exit role in the development of delinquency, this paper tried to analyze whether truancy plays a mediating role with respect to its effect of both risk factors and protective factors on delinquency. Lastly, this research examined whether the effect of determinants and the mediating effect of truancy on delinquency differ according to satisfaction with school life. According to the results, truancy appears to play a mediating role in its effect on personal risk factors with respect to delinquency, but the direct effect of personal risk factors on delinquency turns out to be bigger than the indirect effect through truancy. Additionally, both risk factors and protective factors failed to influence delinquency in the case of high satisfaction with school life. However, truancy appears to play mediating role between personal risk factors and delinquency in the case of low satisfaction with school life. These results confirm that satisfaction with school life may control the effect of youth’s risk factors on delinquency and ultimately restrain juvenile delinquency.
