Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate adolescents’ interest in politics, ideological characteristics, party identification, and regional emotion based on the results of a questionnaire surveyed in the third grade of high school in Busan. And this paper tries to find what factors influence the formation of political orientation. Research has found that there is a difference in their personal characteristics, especially 'gender' in their political orientation. And their political disposition is different from previous generations characterized by conservative tendencies and regionalism is also weakening. The main cause is the weakening of the influence of the family as a political socialization agency and the strengthening of influence of new media. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, gender influenced political interest, political orientation, and regional emotion. Second, family influence as a political socialization organization is limited. However, if one has a preferred party in adolescence, his/her father's influence is found. Third, the use of new media such as Internet portals as a political socialization organization is found to be a factor affecting the level of political interest, political ideology, and regionalism.
